The option to allow parents to mark the roll on the day is inactive by default.
An email was sent to all schools on how you can activate it, as many schools did not want this as a default feature.
If you have admin rights, go to:
APPS> School> School Details
Click EDIT (at the bottom of page)
Scroll down and tick the box
Now submit to save
